What Are Your Cosplay "Excuses"? Help!

Post by April_Croft » Tue Apr 08, 2008 2:34 am

People ALWAYS take the mick, to put it lightly, when I say about RQ, all my friends here, cosplay ect.. And ME. There are 3 reasons I don't (or haven't yet, properly) do Lara Cosplay:

1) People TAKE THE P***
2) My scars are ugly and well, prominent..
3) No outfit :'(

I don't know what to doooooo

people will always take the p because they don't get cosplay....it's their loss because they are missing out on so much fun...as regards to scars you can cover them with makeup...RB always covers her tattoos with makeup...

as to no outfit..ah yes thats a problem...i can only suggest hun to collect things over time....high street shops etc...you don't have to have it all at once you can also make stuff..its sooo easy most of us make our gear.....so it's easy peasy
Raid my tomb & i'll tell Lara...

Don't be so defeatist! All you need is some old leather, cardboard and cereal packets, and just have a go. get a glue gun and just stick the leather to the cardboard.Remember if I had had that attitude, I would never have had a go at making the Narissa dress.
Hmmnn I might have a few old pics somewhere to help you...* Yep found them*

My excuse is that I dyed my hair blond lol. I need to go brown again if I wanna do another lara stunt vid or go to another con. Oh yeah and I dont seem to have enough money, as other priorities have taken over my previous cosplay funds. :?

You can get glue guns realy easily and cheaply and they will give you a much much better hold than regular glue. I think mine was about £5 from a stationary store. You can also get them at craft and DIY places like B+Q. Theyre great tool to have if your making things. Makes the whole process easier and faster!! Ask anyone!!

check out dermablend and dermacolor for covering scars...this is the professional stuff that they use n models and actors.
it also works for tattoo cover..which is what im researching it for

I don't think that would be a problem either.

Anyway, no excuses for me. I'm waiting for a con so I have an excuse to put a full Lara costume togehter! The one I wanted to go to in May was cancelled, so I will probably have to wait until one in November. At least it gives me plenty of time to put it together and gather the various bits and pieces. The last time I cosplayed I put the costume together at the last minute and it was almost stressful lol.
