Cosplay Nightmare!!!!!

Post by lady linny » Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:38 am

argh i just have to vent....i feel the cosplay gods have it in for me at the mo..

I though i would dye my white cotton jessica gloves the nice shade of lilac that they have to be..the bloody things wouldn't take the dye so they are still a nice shade of white...argh! so i went on trusty ole feebay and found a pir for the U.S that only cost me 2p yes 2p with £1.00 shipping costs bargain i thought....the seller emailed me to tell me they could take up to 20 days!!!!! feck!

my movie belt came down for it's anuual inspection..only to find the damn thing had kinked across the back of the belt and will not straighten..so i have had to make another movie belt from scratch....painting rivets inserting etc...and new garter straps

i have had a hell of a week..couldn't find my polystyrene head anywhere so i had to buy a new one othere wise i can't style my wigs
so i got my lara wigs down...my brown lara wig must have grown more hair because it's so bloody dense now it makes my head look HUGE..so i though my legend wig the slighly reddy one will prolly do but it's too red for movie lara....then i thought will people notice then i thought YES i will notice...so my dillema is should i wear the reddy one for movie lara....i have seen a perfect one on ebay BUT is it worth paying out money for a wig just for one day?
i have had to go out and get new movie shorts and a new top..why oh why are all t shirts cap sleeved?????...i spent hours pounding the pavements looking for a normal sleeved t shirt but they all have low necks..too low for movie....i think i would rather compromise on the sleeves rather than the neckline which would look silly if it was too low

so do i buy a new wig? gah! i have LFCC blues and i haven't even gone yet

linny linny linny!! bless you.. having a hard time my dear :'( -- I'd say use the wig you have to hand.. it won't be spot on but it'll be better than not wearing ANY wig for the day it COULD be a good idea to buy a new wig BUT will you get any use out of it after that day, for more photos ect? it also depends on how much money you have atm... if you're strapped for cash, use the reddish one, if not, but you think you can use it more than just once, buy a new wig :)

also, dw too much about the gloves hun, I'm sure noone would notice if you didn't wear gloves for jessica as it is a recognised cossie... if you can get some then that's good but otherwise, don't fret!!

The joys of Cosplay eh?
Don't worry linny you're just panicking at the mo.
Right, have you tried painting the original pair of gloves with fabric paint? Or worse case senario... watered down acrylic paint.( Don't forget that fabric paint wouldn't work on my chiffon wings and I had to re-do them all with puffy paint)
If you spray your hair black/dark brown I think I still have my braid that you could just add onto yuor own hair if that helps, otherwise i would get the dark wig as you'd be unhappy with the red one, or can't you just thin the other one out a bit. Also to flatten the old belt could you try ironing it OVER a teatowel ( so that it doesn't melt it, but straighten it out)?
* Edit* At least you haven't got just two and a half weeks to make a puffy wedding dress.*

cotton gloves wouldn't take dye!? That's not right...I have nothing new to offer, just to agree with what was already said and to quote the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy DON'T PANIC :) :) :)

It just sounds like you're a little stressed (well a lot stressed...) and all I can do is hope things go well for you :) I know how stressful it can be when a convention is coming up quickly and it seems like everything's going wrong :? Been there, done that lol no matter what everything will turn out amazing! Just weigh your options about buying new things, revamping things, etc. whatever happens have fun and don't regret anything :)

Don't worry, I'm sure everything will be fine soon...

I don't know if this could make you feel better, but I think I'm gonna have WAAAY bigger problems, since I'm seriously thinking of cosplaying this guy...

ah thanks guys! poor RB michy..she's got a lot to do....thanks april and Xavietta yes i am just panicking...i put myself under too much pressure because i want my outfits to be accurate and everything has to look just right...Ramiel i do not envy you at all! THAt IS a cosplay nightmare

well i calmed down a bit a redid my wig...the trouble with wigs is that you can't do the "mohawk" braid on top of the head because it pulls the sides on the wig and it makes you look like a doofus...so i braided it further down shoved it on ma bonce and showed hubcap...now he said it like it is as you know, and will not placate me at all when it comes to costumes because he knows how serious i am about my outfits...he actually though i had blended it in with my own hair(coz i dyed it brown) and said it's the best it's ever looked..so i was chuffed...sprayed the poor wig within an inch of it's life with hairspray and tada my movie wig was born....my movie belt i am so chuffed with because it is better than my original belt...so not a dead loss totally today...i gotta style my jess wig tomorrow and I PROMISE to take pics!!! i shall take pics of my new belt too

Now i just have to finish Devon's outfit...........
