C Drive Full - Please Help!

Post by April_Croft » Fri Oct 31, 2008 5:36 pm

ARGH! I wanna cry.. nothing EVER gets any better... my C drive is full -- I have a D drive too but I have no clue how to free up space and I don't want to mess arond with important things... I've deleted temporary files, files from c/softwaredistribution and all the blue $ things from the windows file - I got those tips from various technical forums but it's still practically full! I have no clue what to do with anything technical when it comes to computers and I don't want to do anything that will make this pc worse :'(

can anyone help? if there's anything else you need to know about the drives that'll be useful for anypne to help then do say and I'll try to find out...

thanks in advance x

hey hun!
don't panic!....you got 2 choices hun...back up all your important stuff that you don't want rid of but is taking up too much space onto a CD or buy a new external hard drive to replace your D drive they aren't that expensive....have you got any vids they tend to take up a lot of room....have you emptied your recycle bin hun?

my recycle bin is empty yep, I do have vids but they're on my d drive and that's not even a quarter of the way full..

I will just wait to find a second hand laptop cheaper -- this still isn't fixed.. I looked at a few reviews on this lappy last night and lots of people have been having the same probs as me cos this pc has been a bugger and cost dad lots of money for nothing. I'll just have to keep it together for now. Thanks for helping Linny <3

Go here and download this (it's only a 2MB download)

http://www.ccleaner.com/

It works.

You might also try moving any files (documents, pictures, music) over to your D drive. If you have software running from the C drive that can be re-installed, do so onto your D drive.

thanks soooo much for your help and support -- but I think I am just gonna get a new laptop as the battery is totally dead now except when it sometimes chooses to run on ac power (but then turns off when it choose as well) and it's just pretty dead. The cos for new parts would total to new-laptop-price...

thanks all the same! if someone could lock this thread?... I wouldn't wanna anyone to waste anymore time on lil ol' me!
